In August 03, 2009. The Food and Drug Administration in the U.S. approved LIVALO® (Pitavastatin)for primary hypercholesterolemia and combined Dyslipidemia. Pitavastatin is a fully synthetic statin engineered in Japan by Kowa Pharmaceuticals.
It is a more effective inhibitor of cholesterol production than the statins currently available in the market because of its unique structure. Overall its safety and tolerability are on a par with other normally
prescribed statins.
