Barley Betafiber:Another Source of Beta-Glucan Soluble Fiber
The FDA is amending the health claim regulation entitled “Soluble fiber from certain foods and risk of coronary heart disease” to include barley betafiber as another source of beta-glucan soluble fiber.
The FDA has concluded that in addition to whole oat and whole grain barley products, barley betafiber is also an appropriate source of beta-glucan fiber.
Barley betafiber is a processed product from whole grain barley flour.
Beta-glucans is a soluble fiber that has the potential to reduce LDL cholesterol.
